Authorship Policy
Critical Literary Studies follows internationally recognized standards for determining authorship in order to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in all published works.
Authorship Criteria
To qualify as an author, an individual must meet all of the following conditions:
- Made a substantial intellectual contribution to the conception, design, argument, or interpretation of the work (e.g., critical analysis, theoretical framing, or original research contributing to the manuscript);
- Participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content;
- Approved the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication;
- Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to its accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Individuals who do not meet all four criteria should not be listed as authors but may be recognized in an Acknowledgments section (e.g., those who provided language editing, general supervision, translation assistance, or administrative support).
Corresponding Author
One author must be designated as the corresponding author, responsible for communication with the journal throughout the submission, review, and publication process, and for ensuring that all co-authors have approved the final manuscript before submission.
Order of Authorship
The order of authors should be agreed upon jointly by all contributors and should reflect their relative contributions to the work. The journal does not intervene in authorship order but requires that all listed authors confirm their agreement in writing (via email or the submission system) prior to publication.
Changes to Authorship
Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission, including after acceptance or publication, must be submitted in writing to the Editor-in-Chief, with justification, and must be approved by all authors, including any being added or removed. The journal reserves the right to request documentation supporting the request.
Disputes
In cases of authorship disputes, the journal encourages authors to resolve the matter internally, in consultation with their home institution if necessary. The journal may pause the review or publication process until the dispute is resolved and reserves the right to contact the authors' affiliated institutions if concerns of misconduct arise.
